PART 1: WHERE TO LOOK FOR INSPIRATION

One of the most exciting steps in every MS&CO bride’s beauty experience is the Bridal Beauty Questionnaire. This is a deep dive into every aspect of your love story, overall wedding day vision, skincare & beauty routine, and bridal beauty inspiration. This is one of the most important steps leading up to the makeup and hair rehearsal (aka trial) because these answers will guide us through the appointment and make your overall vision incredibly clear.

Our brides get so excited about finding their inspiration and who could blame them?! Here’s the thing- there are a few guidelines all brides should follow to get the best results at their makeup + hair rehearsal. We’ve decided to share some of the guidelines we give to our brides in a 3-part series!

Today we’re talking all about where to look for your inspiration.

WHERE TO LOOK FOR INSPIRATION

It can be daunting looking for inspiration. Right now, so many people search on Instagram and Pinterest and, while it’s possible to find beautiful inspiration there, we have a couple of other suggestions to keep in mind.

FASHION

Fashion Magazines are a fantastic place to start your bridal beauty inspiration search because they’re overflowing with beauty that’s refined and timeless. Our opinion is that it’s better to follow the lead of industry leaders rather than social media influencers.

RED CARPET

One of our favorite times of the year is red carpet season. From the Golden Globes to the Grammys, you’ll be able to find endless inspiration on these celebrities.

YOUR ARTIST

This may seem like an obvious one but we can’t post about inspiration without bringing it up. Go through your bridal beauty artist’s portfolio and find images of their work that speak to you and your vision! After all, there’s a reason you hired them.

PINTEREST

We’ve taken the time to save quite a few images of beauty inspiration on our Pinterest. Feel free to take a look. You may just find a look that’s perfect for your wedding day! Pinterest, like much of social media, has its good and bad inspiration. When searching through these sites, remember to keep in mind a few things.

  • Many of these images are highly edited to take out blemish, pores, and general texture on the skin. This means that in-person, you’re still going to see your own skin texture and that’s a beautiful thing! Don’t set yourself up for disappointment by focusing on images that create an unrealistic expectation.
  • Tight shots of only one feature rather than an entire face can make it hard to see the entire vision. For example, try to stay away from inspiration images that only show an eye or just a lip.
  • Try your best to stay away from what we like to call “trendy” makeup or hairstyles. If you find an image you like but aren’t sure if it would work for you on your wedding day, you can always reach out to us as an MS&CO bride. We’re here to guide you through this entire process!

Bridal beauty inspiration shouldn’t be overwhelming or stressful. Dedicate an afternoon or evening after work to search through inspiration images and have fun!
